Pork You Pine Tree

Seeing as I have been missing a few days worth of posts, I'll fill you in a little on what I've been up to. I took a mini-road trip to see Porcupine Tree which was fantastic, for a lack of a better term. I went to see them in September, but I was the farthest back I could be whereas this time it was general admission, so I was front and centre. There's not too much about the concert that I can share, mostly because I was too enthralled with being there that the extra activity didn't make it into the 'longterm storage' part of my brain. Although I am only 5 foot 7 inches (which granted, is tall for a female) is rather short compared to the 6 foot 3 inch man that was blocking my view for the majority of the show. Over time I had shimmied my way around him, and could see a lot more than I could if I had just stayed where I was. All in all, it was a fantastic show, and PT always sound great live. You may not agree with me that their music is good, or that they have great lyrics, but there is no denying that they are great musicians and their live show is incredibly tight, as if you were listening to a mastered copy of the record. Any band that can sound like the record in concert, deserves my money.

Lack of Postage

Okay, okay, okay. So I haven't posted since Sunday, but I do have a good reason - I just spent 15 hours in a car. Granted, it is for a concert, but 15 hours? That's dedication. This is going to be a little shorter than normal because I am out of town, but I'll try to post the who/what/where's of this trip.

Cutting Calories: Day 1

Well, today didn't necessarily go as I had hoped, but I did eat a whole lot less than I normally would have. (Perhaps the result of having to photograph my meals.)

For breakfast I ate 2 eggs, 1 piece of toast, 3 pieces of bacon, some grapes and 2 strawberries which I washed down with a half cup of 1% milk.

For dinner I ate 2 hamburgers (only 1 is pictured (yeah, yeah)), 1 plain patty, and a small bowl of leftover plain spaghetti. I had 2 cups of juice and so far, one cup of green tea.

Before bed I'm going to have another 2 cups of green tea (decaffeinated because apparently going to bed at 5am is a no-no) and no snack (nooooooo!).

I didn't do any exercising today, but I plan on going for a 5km walk around the lake tomorrow. Hopefully I actually get off my arse and get something accomplished tomorrow. Wish me luck!

It's a Better Investment

Sometimes, there are those people that you really want to help although you are well aware that they are perfectly content living their lives the way that they are already. The difficulty lies in the resistance to change, and the idea that acceptance equals weakness. It would be nice for peace and harmony to rain down like a raging torrent filling every crevasse of our being and create a collective unit - one that will work in unison towards a common goal.

Until that day, I'll just buy earplugs.

50 is 50 is 50 is 50

Alriiiight, well it is now May 2nd, 2010 which means nothing to you unless it's your birthday - if that's the case, happy birthday. But today is the day that I decide that I am going to lose weight. I figure I might as well make it as public as possible (without shouting from the rooftops) to help keep myself accountable. Everyday I am going to post pictures of everything I eat, and keep a sort of log so I can see how awesome I am doing. (Come on, I'll do great.) So wish me luck, and my goal of losing 50lbs/23kg/3.5st is not too far away. 5 months of hard labour and I'm sure I'll hit that mark!

Across the Pond...More Like an Ocean, Isn't It?

Alright, alright! Time for some smashing news that a little bit of research (and a post on Yahoo! Answers) assisted me in discovering. I am a citizen of the United Kingdom through descent. I didn't think that because my father was born in the UK (although living elsewhere for 30+ years) would pass on any special privileges - but alas, it has! I am pretty excited about it, because I am currently brainstorming (if that's what you call sort of thinking about it) a trip to Europe some time in the near future and having it come into fruition without a hitch would be ideal. So, I'm pretty stoked about that new discovery and I hope to apply for a passport soon. I think I'll have to go to the UK Embassy in my country to get one though, as they don't accept overseas applications through the post. Yay!

iPhone Junk

So I'm trying out this blog App on my iPod touch, and thus far I am unamused and slightly irritated. There is no landscape option, and it's overall inconvenient. That being said, I'm still going to use it to blog on the road or when something worth writing about occurs (I'll write about anything for attention). Anyways, nothing fun or exciting to report on today, as I am still yet to change out of my pajamas. I'll try and get something good up later. OH! I just thought of something that I found out last night - but you'll have to wait until later before I tell you :)
